Dominant Ding in sensational form to crush Davis - 01/11/2007
Guildford Spectrum Ding Jun-Hui 6–0 Steve Davis Ding's scores first 80-31 (Ding 38, 35), 115-0 (Ding 115), 110-24 (Ding 101), 61-9 (Ding 61), 83-0 (Ding 60), 104-0 (Ding 104).
DING Jun-hui became the second player through to the semi-finals of the 2007 PartyBets.com Premier League Snooker after a whitewash demolition of Steve Davis at the Guildford Spectrum.
The young Chinese star produced a hat-trick of century breaks on his way to securing the two points needed to make the Aberdeen play-offs in early December - along with £9,000 prize money on the night.
After runs of 38 and 35 saw him secure the first, Ding produced a clinical clearance of 115 to move further ahead and then made it back-to-back centuries in frame three when Davis, having established a lead of 24, concentrated on position with an attempted red to the corner and missed the pot, allowing his opponent back in with devastating results.
Ding looked in imperious form throughout the match, but almost cost himself the chance of his second century break when he left the cue ball next to the final black having made 94. However, he produced an exhibition-style shot to drill the black in to the top right corner and guarantee a second £1000 bonus of the night.
In frame four the third ton looked on, but Ding snookered himself on 61 with five reds remaining and although he attempted an audacious cut on the yellow the break ended.
A 60 break sealed the fifth and a clearance of 104 - the 101st century break of Ding’s short career - in the final frame saw him complete the annihilation and confirm his place in the last four along with Stephen Hendry.
