Ding clinches first win of the Premier League campaign - 07/10/2010

LIVE: DING JUNHUI 4-2 MARK SELBY
Best of six frames
Ding's scores first
123-0 (Ding 54, 69), 49-70 (Selby 50), 78-0 (Ding 78), 74-9 (Ding 69), 103-1 (Ding 103), 0-97 (Selby 97)

Ding, who drew twice and lost once in his first three matches, needed a victory and made a fine start in the opening frame.

A missed long pot from Selby gave Ding a chance and he made 54 before he played into the heart of the pack after potting a black with no available shot on the red.

But another long pot was missed by Selby and Ding's subsequent score of 69 moved him 1-0 ahead.

A well-judged plant started Ding off in the second frame and he had a chance to make it 2-0. However, he faltered when 44 ahead and Selby's half century gave him a slight advantage.

It became a safety battle which Selby edged as Ding failed to hit the blue while snookered. That meant Ding needed a snooker, and despite numerous efforts, could not get it as Selby levelled the score.

Ding quickly regained the lead with a fine break of 78 in the third. He maintained his good form in the fourth and his score of 69 meant he had a 3-1 advantage and was guaranteed at least a point.

It was a stunning performance from Ding and punished every error from Selby. A missed brown enabled Ding an opportunity to win the match and his score of 103 won him the frame, the match and an extra £1,000 for the century.

Selby had already lost the two points but was on course to make Premier League Snooker history in the final frame. No one had ever made a 147 with the shot-clock rules. Selby had a chance of doing this but, after potting 13 reds and 12 blacks, he missed the 13th black after scoring 97.
