Rocket homes in on title No.9 - 27/11/2010

Neil Robertson 1 – 5 Ronnie O’Sullivan
34 (34) – 74 (61), 91 (65) – 8, 0 – 90 (82), 0 – 139 (139), 0 – 102 (102), 52 (51) – 78 (77)

AN IN-FORM Ronnie O’Sullivan made it through to his seventh consecutive PartyCasino.com Premier League final where he will meet defending champion Shaun Murphy in a re-run of last year’s championship.

A superb run of breaks of 82, 139, 102 and 77 in the final four frames of the match gave O’Sullivan victory as he continued his unprecedented run of Premier League finals. With eight wins in the event already, stretching back to 1997, no other player comes close to the Rocket’s success in the event.

Robertson, who has played consistently well to become World Champion, World Open winner and World No.1, never had much of a chance after completing a 65 break to win the second frame.

With only one frame taking longer than 15 minutes, O’Sullivan set about his work with his customary quick pace and the 750-strong crowd loved every minute of it.

“I played a good match tonight but I would like to congratulate Neil on a great year and I was pleased to beat him, “ said O’Sullivan.

“I’ve been playing really well in the past three or four weeks and practice has been good which is something I’ve not felt for a couple of years. I’m coming into matches now thinking I can play well and win.

“Shaun is a form player and if he is playing well he can blow you away. Hopefully I can give him a better game and entertain the fans here and on TV.

“It will be nice to win but I’ve got my work cut out and any victory I will accept with gratitude,” he concluded.
