RONNIE O’SULLIVAN put on another fine display as he beat Shaun Murphy 3-1 to win the Event 10 in the PartyPoker.com Premier League and move to the top of the table as the league stage concluded at the Grimsby Auditorium.
He will now face Mark Williams in the first semi-final while Ding Junhui and Judd Trump will contest the other. The prize money available sees the champion taking £60,000, the runner-up £30,000 and the losing semi-finalists £20,000 each.
With the final match just determining positions, O’Sullivan started fast rattling in a break of 82 to go to 1-0. Another run in the second, this time of 78 put Murphy under pressure as the score moved to 2-0. However, the 2009 League Champion got back into it winning the next before O’Sullivan made a century in the fourth frame to take the match.
Murphy finished seventh in the League which earned him £12,500.
For O’Sullivan it was another near flawless performance and he will start as betting favourite when the play-offs are contested at Potters Leisure Resort near Great Yarmouth on Saturday and Sunday 26th and 27th November.
“It’s always nice to reach the play-offs and I seem to have a good track record in them over the years,” said O’Sullivan.
“Mark is a tough player of course and he is back at the top of his game so nothing will be easy at Potters. I’m playing well though and enjoying my snooker so I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
