Williams and Robertson share the spoils - 14/10/2010
Neil Robertson 3 – 3 Mark Williams 53 (38) – 59, 79 – 39 (35), 0 – 78 (70), 82 (55) – 25, 7 – 109 (105), 73 (65) - 1
In a clash of two of the best potters in the game, World Champion Neil Robertson and Mark Williams fought out a 3-all draw that improved the Welshman’s standing in the League but left the Australian still at the foot of the table.
After Selby’s fireworks, the match was a hard fought affair with neither player quite doing enough for the win. Both had chances in the opener but it was Williams, who stole it when it looked like his opponent’s frame. Williams had called a foul on himself, and he would have been the only person in the venue to have known it, as he thought he made a push shot, cueing down on the white.
Robertson levelled it in the next, in another scrappy frame but a decent break of 70 from the Welshman restored his lead. A run of 55 from Robertson in the next was enough for him to take it to 2-2, but Williams secured at least one well-deserved point as he rolled in a break of 105, the 14th century break in 11 games of 2010 Premier League Snooker.
It was Robertson who took the last though with a 65 break.
